Laura Chavin Cigars - a Man's Vision Turned into Reality

Laura Chavin cigars - a man's vision turned reality

Helmut Buehrle, the father and creator of the Laura Chavin calls himself a “positively crazy person”. His vision to create a hand-rolled premium cigar which would be ranked along side the great brands of Cuba and the Dominican Republic, was more than fulfilled after ten “crazy” years of hard work. Laura Chavin counts, together with Partagas, Cohiba, Montecristo, Macanudo, H. Upmann and Davidoff, to the best cigars in the world. Helmut Buehrle also followed an unorthodox path when naming his cigar label and the professional world responded with much head-shaking. A woman’s name for a cigar?! Why not! Chavin (pronounced Schaveen) is the name of Helmut Buehrle’s daughter and also the second name of his mother. The origin of this unusual name, which all the women on the matriarchal side carry, is shrouded in mystery. Whether a name from an Inca tribe, or perhaps from Chavva, the Hebrew name for Eva, of from Chawer, a rabbinian title of honor...?

Laura Chavin Cigars - Assortment and characteristics

"A cigar speaks the truth about the conscientiousness of all it meets.” Conscientiousness, which rises from the love of cigars. It prevails on the plantations in the humid valleys of the Dominican Republic, where the Olor and Piloto Cubano tobaccos grow to be used as fillers, and prevails in the San Andres Valley (pictured at left) in Mexico, where the binder is grown, and in Connecticut, where the Connecticut Shade grows in the shadow of muslin cloth to become the wrapper. Laura Chavin speaks the truth about the Dominican Republic’s tobacco factory José Mendez, which is managed by a friend of Buehrle’s, the “positively crazy” Siegfried Maruschke, it speaks the truth about the Tabacalera de Garcia in La Romana, where the Dominican version of the Montecristo is rolled, and last but not least, about Helmut Buehrle himself. The light, elegant and very aromatic cigars of Laura Chavin carry the numbers 11, 22, 33, 44, 55, 66, 77, 88, 99. Those of the stronger Pur Sang (pure blood) series are called Pur Sang I, Pur Sang II, Pur Sang III, and Pur Sang IV. In addition, the likewise potent Concours des Meilleurs Connoiseurs should also be mentioned. The Terre de Mythe series launched late in 2005 is not sold by DonCigarro until the origin of the tobaccos used therin are not completely clear.
