 Diplomaticos is a comparatively new label,
which was first launched in 1966
for the French market as a
low-priced alternative to the
brand
Montecristo. Where taste
and workmanship are concerned,
there is little difference to be
discerned between these two
brands. The
Diplomaticos is
perhaps a trace milder. Also the
format designations are the same
as the
Montecristos. As in the
case of it’s “big brother”, the
Vitolas also carry numbers,
namely from one to five.
 Above all,
Don Cigarro recommends the
Diplomaticos No. 2, a
Torpedo vitola with very balanced
flavors with good burn and draw
features. Besides the
No. 2, the
Diplomaticos selection includes
the
Diplomaticos No. 1 in the
slim
Lonsdale format, the
Diplomaticos No. 3 in the Corona
format, the
Diplomaticos No. 4 a
Petit Corona, and last but not
least the Diplomaticos No.5 in
the
Tres Petit Corona format.
All five cigars are convincing
with a taste similar to
Montecristo and having a good
draw and a clean burn.
