Montecristo Cigars Cuban
Montecristo
is the most famous and probably
the most popular
Habanos brand
in the world. It is the
yardstick by which many Cuban
cigar smokers judge other
labels. The workers in the
factories have always been read
to out loud from political as
well as literary writings. The
Montecristo cigars were named
after the hero of a long-time
favorite novel of the Torcedores, which was the
name of the hero of Alexandre
Dumas’ (pictured at left) famous
novel “The Count of
Montecristo”, his full name
being Edmundo Dantés. The
manufacturer
H. Upmann has been
producing these cigars since
1935. The perfectly balanced
mixture of
Montecristo cigars
and
cigarillos
are composed of
selected leaves from the region
of Vuelta Abajo, the homeland of
the best tobacco in the world.
Montecristo offers a very varied and
balanced range of products. From
the gigantic
Montecristo A down
to the tiny Panatela Montecristo Joyitas, nearly every format has
been produced. The Montecristo
Especiales No. 1 and the
Montecristo No. 2 are manufacted
in El Laguito, from where the
famous
Cohiba Cigars also comes. The
other
Montecristo Cigars are mostly
produced in the factory José
Marti.
Montecristo
Montecristo Especiales No. 2 are
to be especially recommended
with their creamy mildness; the
recommendation of the house is
the
Montecristo No. 2, an extraordinarily strong-spicy
torpedo cigar for the
experienced Aficionado.
In direct competition for the honor
of being the “house label” is
the new, harmoniously-blended
and extremely aromatic
Montecristo Edmundo, a tribute
to Edmundo Dantés; this is a beautiful format and a marvelous
cigar. By the way, did you know
that the
Montecristo No. 4 Petit
Corona is the most-produced of
the Havana cigars; approximately
one-third of all “Montes”
manufactured are
Montecristos
No. 4’s!
